Letter from the Co-Presidents
Greetings! Our names are Jeffrey Mo and Jeanette Low, and we are the Co-Presidents of the University of California San Diego Taiwanese American Student Association (TASA) for the upcoming 2008-2009 academic year. UCSD TASA is an organization that provides a sense of community for Taiwanese Americans, as well as those interested in the Taiwanese culture. We create a sense of unity not only within the Taiwanese community here in San Diego, but also with students at other universities. TASA promotes cultural awareness by building a community of motivated and dedicated students through our social, cultural, and service activities that take place throughout the year.
We are currently seeking financial sponsors to help support our cultural events for our student members in order to enrich their knowledge of their native origins. In case you haven’t heard of UCSD TASA, please allow us to share some history with you. UCSD TASA was founded by Juliana Hung in 2005 in hopes of creating a unique student organization on campus that focuses on Taiwanese in America. Although we are a relatively new student organization, our member base has been growing exponentially over the past three years. In addition, TASA is not only present at UCSD, but also at many university campuses across the United States.
Our goal this year is to raise $2,000. This money will go towards various cultural events for students and members of the community, providing scholarships and most of all, giving back to our dedicated members and the Taiwanese students in America. Any amount of contribution would be appreciated. In return, we will advertise you or your company/organization on our website and at our events. You may also choose to sponsor for a specific event, such as our Culture Night. If so, please contact us for more information.
